The Future (What do you want?)
Throwing this out there as a topic of discussion. With many players now moving on from both Teh3l3m3nts and Minecraft if general it leaves very few of us now. Over the past few months i have kept myself busy by mining huge areas and building relics of the past, but, there is only so much i can do before i become bored and this is where i find myself.
I thought to myself of the days in which there would be plenty of people on all discussing builds and ideas together and i long for those days once again. I know that those golden days can never be brought back around again but i still feel, even with this solitary confinement that it is not too late for this server.
We are (or perhaps were) a great community who wanted what was best for the server. I know (personally) what i would like to see happen for the next chapter but i shall come to that shortly. Firstly however, i would like to hear all of your opinions on the future of the server (More what should it be and what should be in it) I'm curious to hear all of this and would like to get as much feedback as possible. I ask that references to past events not be included as this for me anyway is to get a clear, clinical view on the type of server you all want to play on.
I will now list what i personally would like to see both for the server and Teh3l3m3nts website (It may be surprising).
- New Map (Overworld, Nether and End)
- No Plugins (Including no more Dynmap)
- No Rules (Yes I'm asking for Anarchy, i shall explain why shortly)
- Website completely rebuilt
- No ranks
- Unlimited Map size
- PVP
The most interesting thing i would like is certainly the No Rules part and here's why. I feel that Teh3l3m3nts has been and should be pure survival, against it all. The world, The players and everything that comes with that, including those who use exploits or hacks for their own gain. I thing that removing all bans and letting anarchy reign could ignite that spark once more of that pure survival.
Now by all means this is not what will be happening, nor do i have any control or say over how the server is run, but i would like to hear what you would all want as fellow Minecrafters and Teh3l3m3nts players.

Hi guys! Long time no communicate!
I support the idea of starting off fresh. I know that it’s a sad concept, but as you said a lot of the old regulars from the golden times of this server have gotten older and their priorities have shifted from obtaining diamonds in Minecraft to doing well in school/getting into college/being with families. I’m one of those as I began playing on this server when I was in the 7th grade and now I’m in grade 12 and will be graduating this summer (!!!!!)
I feel like overhauling the site might not be the most efficient choice of spending ones time as very few people visit the server let alone the site.
The no plug ins concept intrigues me as I’ve always been wanting to complete survival mode (Slay the enderdragon and do everything there is to do in the game) and have attempted plenty of times to start my own single player files in attempt of completing this goal but it always gets so dang lonely and I give up. So if there was a vanilla world that was a free-for all or something with a lack of rules/restrictions I’d be down to spend whenever I have downtime to finally finish Minecraft here at the server which I consider my Minecraft home.
I’d come back, and maybe even pursue regaining ownership. That’s what I always wanted this server to be (aside from PVP, but I’d be ok with it. Only decided against it because the server existed way before PVP). This server started as a vanilla server and we dealt with griefers by having a 24/7 staff of admins and owners ready to help those who needed it. Then, it slowly got out of control due to too many hands in deciding how things would run and what would be used. For a brief period, it was a golden age of ‘as vanilla as possible’ while still allowing some control to keep dickheads out. We actually now have this, with the original owners and some of the original admins at mc.icarey.net:25565 and have had this going in various iterations for quite a while. I’d love to see it come back on teh3l3m3nts as well. I know surf has been absent largely for ages and CNC is barely around at all. icarey (now smashedbotatoes) and myself handed off original ownership to them years ago due to disillusionment, and we now have an in-house server if they stop wanting to put in the work. Just throwing it out there.
The only reason I saw this post is because I was suddenly feeling nostalgic. I actually just got a server up and running when I started wondering whatever happened to the teh3l3m3nts crew. The server is still barebones, so it could possibly be a great place to rebuild! If we did start something up again, we should definitely make it a team effort.
I always felt like teh3l3m3nts was more about the community and less about the rules, which is why I liked it so much.
I’m going to leave the server vanilla for now in case we decide to do something with it.

A couple things I forgot to add:
I’m in favor of having one rule, which happened to be rule #1 on teh3l3m3nts: don’t be a dick.

I’m not around that much sure. But I at least attempt to make sure the server is still running. I upgraded it as well, repaired it. There have been a few new versions of minecraft really quickly and I will look into upgrading to those/newest available soon too. I have 0 time for actually playing minecraft. I run my own server at home too lol. But again I don’t have much time to build on it, and thats the point of my personal server is that a build can take a few years to complete.
Anyhow, with regards to teh3l3m3nts itself, I removed some plugins, and made it just essentials and the world protect thing. I think that is all that is needed, and thats what it is now. Very minimalist/vanilla like. I don’t remember most of the old rules we had, so its basically don’t be a dick as Morate said.
I don’t know where teh3l3m3nts goes on from here. It’s been a while now, like 5 years, and for me being old that isn’t a whole lot of time but for our less older members that can be ages. Many have moved on. So the only way to make teh3l3m3nts like it used to be is to grow. But I don’t know how this can be accomplished, being as I don’t have time and I’m sure surfrock doesn’t either.
I’m open to suggestions or Input and we can discuss any solutions.
