1.1 Is Out!
See? When I said it might drop today...I was just 30 minutes too early :D
According to some hot rumors, Minecraft 1.1 is going to drop today! How opportune with our server move! Now, we won't be updating until bukkit is stable...however with this new host we're not limited to recommended builds only, we can install development builds which still work, so we can be up to date MUCH faster.
We know that many of you want to play around in 1.1 right off, but to play before we update,...do that you need to backup you client's game files, and keep a 1.0 version (Windows and Linux) AND a 1.1 version that you can go back and forth between. Here's how to find the files that need to be backed up:
- In Linux: ~/.minecraft
- In Windows XP: C:/Documents and Settings/[USERNAME]/Application Data/.minecraft
- In Windows 7: C:/Users/[USERNAME]/AppData/Roaming/.minecraft
- In OSX: Mac Version of 1.0 /Users/[USERNAME]/Library/Application Support/minecraft
As always, here's the Official Feature List and the often-more-useful Wiki feature and bug list. Also, for everyone asking when Bukkit will be updated, here's their status: Bukkit Dev Status.

Nice call, Surf. I was actually playing when it came out, so I was probably one of the first to try it. (BTW, I absolutely LOVE pirate speak.)
So i have never tired to down grade minecraft before. i updated without thinking and need to figure out how to play the old version to get on the server. Can anyone tell me what to do with the .zip file?
Extract the files from the .zip. Then you will want to use it to replace the items found in the .minecraft folder or just move the old contents into a folder so you can put it back when you want to play 1.1.
You will use the same minecraft.exe file that is probally on your desktop to start the game. Make sure to not update when it asks.
